The blessedness of reduced class periods
Next week is crazy week! A paper, an oral presentation, and two midterms. So, that means this week is getting ready for crazy, which makes it actually crazier than next week.
Hence, the blessedness of two class periods off today. Not only does that mean I don't have to do the reading for them, but I can use the time to get ahead for next week - or to blog. The rough draft of the paper is done, and my biology test went well.
Now for the fun stuff:
On September 19, we celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day. This involved much "arghh" and "ahoy" and general mayhem. We quite spoiled the lunch of one poor girl, I think, between her astonishment and laughter. Three of us dressed as pirates for a good part of the day. We definitely got some good stares, especially singing the pirate birthday song loudly in the Union. It's so much fun to dress up and act like it's a completely different time period.
That brings me to our fun last night. The homecoming ball is supposed to be royally themed this year, so that gave me the brilliant idea of borrowing my aunt's medieval and Renaissance costumes. (Thank you, thank you, everyone.) Eleven of us are going in Renaissance garb, and we spent an hour or so last night trying on all the costumes. We've got green, blue, pink, brown, and aqua for the girls, and green, blue, red, and brown for the boys. They come in velvets and satins, and with huge hats and little caps. We quite dazzled our hall. I can't wait to see what impression we'll make at the dance.
